Cardinal is a lightweight, no-frills web browser that uses the same WebKit rendering engine as Safari and Chrome. At the heart of Cardinal is CardinalKit, an embedded browser framework developed by Minder Softworks.
While other web browsers are becoming more complex, Cardinal goes the opposite direction: simplicity. Cardinal has only the essentials:
Tabbed browsing Per-tab history URL sharing History Bookmarks Open bookmark groups in tabs Downloads
Other browsers can consume vast amounts of memory and CPU when you have more than one or two tabs loaded. This can bring your machine to a crawl, or force you to quit and re-launch your browser. Cardinal is optimized to drastically lower these requirements - by up to 90% - freeing up system resources for other applications.
Cardinal is currently in open beta, and will be adding many features such as popup blocking, private browsing, and enabling & disabling Flash on a per-tab basis in upcoming releases.
